VDMA: Poor result in May

Orders received by the German engineering industry in May 2008 were 12 percent down in real terms on the previous year's figure. Domestic orders fell by 12 percent. A fall of 12 percent was also posted in foreign demand.

Frankfurt/Mainz, 5 June 2008 – “Full order books and a high level of orders received in the first few months of this year safeguard capacity utilisation and employment in the industry,” explained Jan-Udo Kreyenborg, Chairman of the Plastics and Rubber Machinery Association within the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), at the VDMA press conference in Mainz on Thursday.
